With the file extension STA so-called Color Match (image) statistics of the image editing software Adobe Photoshop are stored. With the color comparison function, the colors of two images, selections or levels can be compared and adjusted if necessary. To be able to apply the same customization to other images later, save these settings to a STA file.
The function can be found under 'Image-> Adjustments-> Same color ...'.
Most often resolving problems with opening STA files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support STA files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of STA files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it.
