With the file extension PSF so-called proof setting files of the image editing software Adobe Photoshop are marked. Proof profile files give you a preview of what the image will look like before you print a picture in a print shop.
In PSF files in addition to the output device and various information such as paper simulations are stored. To load a PSF file go to 'View-> Proof Setup-> Own Proof' in the proof manager. Photoshop supplies a large number of proof files for various professional makers (eg ARRIFlex, Epson).

Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of PSF files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate PSF files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file.
