With the file extension PSA so-called Adobe Photoshop album files are marked. Photoshop Album is photo management software with rudimentary image editing features. 2004 appeared the last version. In 2009, the free (but registered) Starter Edition was released, but their support was discontinued, which is why the registration process no longer works.
A PSA contains, among other things, the tags and captions assigned in the management software. Psa files can be imported from Adobe Photoshop Elements (from the Organizer), so you can preserve the structure, tags, etc. when importing image collections. The PSA file is usually located under Documents and Settings in the hidden ApplicationAdobe Photoshop Album Catalog folder.
Most often resolving problems with opening PSA files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support PSA files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of PSA files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate PSA files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Adobe Photoshop Elements applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Adobe Photoshop Elements has been installed.
