With the file extension KYS keyboard shortcuts, so key shortcuts of the image editing software Adobe Photoshop are marked. Ky's files store the self-made key assignments for functions and windows in Photoshop. In principle, all key assignments, such as 'Ctrl + O' to open a file to 'ctrl +' or 'F1' put.
In order to change the keyboard layout, you will find the corresponding options window under 'Edit-> Keyboard Commands' with the option to create a new KYS file.
There is no way to load a KYS file. To use it, it has to be placed under 'Preferences-> Keyboard commands' in the main directory. Then you can find the corresponding assignment in the folding menu of the keyboard command options window.
Especially useful are KYS files for saving your own assignment (for example for a new installation) or to transfer them to another (work) computer.
Note that KYS Photoshop files are not compatible with Illustrator versions.
Most often resolving problems with opening KYS files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support KYS files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of KYS files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate KYS files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Adobe Photoshop applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Adobe Photoshop has been installed.
