F4A files are MPEG-4 audio files in the Flash format container. The extension F4A was introduced by the manufacturer Adobe 2007 with the support of MPEG-4. This format has been supported since Flashplayer 9 Update 3 (9.0.115.0) and also supports DRM (Digital Rights Management). In addition to F4A, the endings f4v, f4p and f4b for video, protected videos as well as audiobooks were introduced.
Most often resolving problems with opening F4A files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of F4A files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate F4A files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Adobe Flash Professional applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Adobe Flash Professional has been installed.
Sometimes problems with opening F4A files may not lie with the application itself, but can arise due to other causes, such as:
