With the CRDOWNLOAD file extension, the web browser marks Google Chrome files during the download. These files record the contents of a file being downloaded. When the download is done, the extension will automatically be removed from Chrome.
The extension is only appended to the original ending of the download file, for example, Clip.avi.crdownload. This procedure is intended to prevent users from opening unfinished files. For streamable material, of course, the extension can be easily removed manually and so the content can be used.
If a download is aborted by the user, Chrome deletes these files automatically, only in case of a Windows or browser crash such files remain. Unfortunately there is no possibility with Chrome to continue the download of a CRDOWNLOAD file later.
Unfortunately a bit tricky, but with the program wget CRDOWNLOAD files can be continued. After removing the extension CRDOWNLOAD you can use the --continue switch (which is an option of wget) and specifying the source of the file to get it ready to load.
Most often resolving problems with opening CRDOWNLOAD files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support CRDOWNLOAD files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of CRDOWNLOAD files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate CRDOWNLOAD files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Google Chrome applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Google Chrome has been installed.
Sometimes problems with opening CRDOWNLOAD files may not lie with the application itself, but can arise due to other causes, such as:
