With the file extension AIA, so-called Adobe Illustrator Action files of the vector drawing software of the same name are identified. AIA files are a kind of recording file that stores actions, ie user input. Aia files can be played back later, for example to automate repetitive editing work on one or more objects or images durchillusführen.
AIA files are pure text files containing, for example, menu commands and tool actions. Aia files are selected and played via the action window. In doing so, they are applied to the current document, whereby it should be noted that in some cases an object must also be selected.
Unfortunately not all AIA files of older versions of Illustrator are working in a current version.
Most often resolving problems with opening AIA files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support AIA files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of AIA files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate AIA files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Adobe Illustrator applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Adobe Illustrator has been installed.
