ACCDT files are database templates for the accdb database format introduced with Microsoft Access 2007. Microsoft Access is a so-called desktop RDMBS (relational database management system).
ACCDT files contain predefined database elements such as tables, data types and reports. This template data is recorded in various XML-structured text files and stored as a zip archive in an ACCDT file. Accdt files can be an entire database or just part of it. In the second case one also speaks of application parts.
Database templates make it easy to create databases for specific purposes. Templates can also be created or changed by yourself. For example, if you have created a new database and created all the fields, etc., you can save an ACCDT with 'File-> Publish-> Save as Template'. Accdt is a proprietary format and can only be processed with Microsoft Access 2007 and later.
Microsoft Access is included in the Microsoft Office Professional Suite.
Most often resolving problems with opening ACCDT files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support ACCDT files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of ACCDT files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate ACCDT files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Microsoft Access applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Microsoft Access has been installed.
Sometimes problems with opening ACCDT files may not lie with the application itself, but can arise due to other causes, such as:
