With the file extension 8BC plugins are marked for the image processing software Adobe Photoshop. With these plugins, additional functionalities, such as new effects or the support of other graphic formats in Photoshop, can be reprinted. Adobe Photoshop uses various 8b endings for different plugin types. 8BC files are color picker, so color selection dialog plugins.
8BC files come in the plugin folder (plugins) located inside the main Photoshop folder. It should be noted that not all plugins are compatible with all versions of Photoshop and when using the 64-bit version usually also a customized version of the plugin is needed.
In addition, one must select the plugins for its platform, since those for Windows Photoshop do not work together with the Mac version of Photoshop. However, the plugins for the Mac version usually have no extension or the official extension 8bcm.
With an 8BC file you can replace the standard color selector in Photoshop. Alternative color choices can be found for example in the Photoshop SDK (software development package), but unfortunately in uncompiled form. 8BC files are usually only used by older Photoshop versions, but are still usable in newer ones.
To see if a plugin is installed correctly, you can get a list of all installed plugins in the submenu Plugins (Windows: Help, Mac OSX: Photoshop).
Most often resolving problems with opening 8BC files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support 8BC files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of 8BC files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.
It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate 8BC files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Adobe Photoshop applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Adobe Photoshop has been installed.
Sometimes problems with opening 8BC files may not lie with the application itself, but can arise due to other causes, such as:
